NHS Tests are Not Fit to Trave
The NHS advise that you should do a rapid antigen test every 3 to 4 days, as about 1 in 3 people with COVID-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect others. Especially with restrictions easing and more social events are taking place and is therefore, important to test regularly. These rapid antigen tests can be ordered on the NHS website. However, the NHS tests are not fit for travel purposes as they do not meet the sensitivity requirements. Therefore, to get a travel test and a fit to fly certificate you are required to use a private testing provider, such as Klarity. Similar to the rapid antigen tests, you are able to get a PCR test on the NHS by visiting a test centre that is located near to you. To get a PCR test on the NHS you will need to visit the NHS website and book an appointment, there are both walk in and drive in test clinics located all over the UK. With a PCR test you will get results after 24 hours of having completed you test, this is because the PCR swab sample is sent to a laboratory for analysis. After your test has been analysed you will receive you test results via text and email, with either a positive or negative test result. This test certificate cannot be used for travel purposes and this will not be accepted. As with the rapid antigen tests you will need to visit a private testing provider that has been approved by the government to get a PCR covid 19 fit to fly certificate for travel. If you require a PCR test to fly, you will need to complete you swab sample within 72 hours before you travel.
At Klarity we sell PCR test kits that are suitable for fit to fly travel purposes. All our test-kits can be performed in the comfort of your home or accommodation. Once you receive your test, log on to Klarity app and follow the steps. You will need to add the barcode of your swab stick which starts with 5 0000 and general information (name, D.O.B., etc). Please note that for a PCR test you will need to send your test sample back to our lab by using the prepaid postal mailbox that you received with your test kit. This postal box should be posted in your nearest Royal Mail priority mailbox, ensure to make a note of your tracking number which is a 13-digit code printed under the barcode on the postal box and ends in GB. We advise that your complete your test within the first 24 hours of the 72 hour time frame.
